Abbadon/Robadan & others: Does anyone remember the 70's military comedy hit show "M.A.S.H."? If you do, you might recall an arrogant, hypocritical, inconsiderate buffoon named "Major Frank Burns". Major Burns was always advocating "stricter rules", "more discipline", "tighter policies", but he himself was nothing but a COWARD! A coward with a belt, holster and pistol and many miles behind the front. A coward daydreaming of being a hero and having rank, prestige, authority and adoration of others. There are many pro-war advocates posting here and many other places, who if are not careful, if they don't start examining what they are really saying, are in great danger of becoming "Frank Burns". It may have been a sitcom with ficticious characters, but it was based on recognizable behavior. Patriotism during this BUSH administration and the Zionist Cabal it works for is nothing more than cognitive dissonance. Ask Stanley Milgram!

Let me guess, these Iraqi's will be villified shortly as "terrorists" for simply practicing the same belief that americans have been hiding behind for the last three wars:
"my country right or wrong". It's OK for americans to rally behind their flag, just not the enemy! -

Excellent post!!! Kudos!!!
It always bothered me that there were steps before qualifying for baptism, like writing a letter to your previous church,etc.. It really is a lack of faith to try and "buy" your christian approval and baptism instead of repenting, throwing your burdens upon Jesus and Jehovah, and letting it rest with them.

J.F. Rutherford, Communism and Satan
by MacHislopp injust to share with you, the following:
w50 8/15 p. 251 answering the foes of his government ***
5 we challenge that british jesuit to harmonize, if he can, his accusation with the public declaration by j. f. rutherford, then president of the watch tower society, from londons royal albert hall, sunday, september 11, 1938. delivering his speech face the facts, which was beamed by radio and carried by direct wire to more than 50 cities in the united states, canada, great britain, australia, new zealand and tasmania, and also broadcast by a transcontinental chain of 118 u. s. radio stations,

Great post Mac! Nice research. I wil have to check this out with the older CD-ROM's so I can have it handy. It's funny how political involvement is a DA offense, and yet consider the propaganda in those older articles. What hypocrisy!

Were You One Of Those That Was Always Looking For The Perfect Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini remember, especially in the 70's and 80's, how certain ones would go from hall to hall looking for the perfect congregation.
you know, the place that had the best elders, the area that you could "grow" in.
maybe it was the hall that had all the families or best association.

I was a wanderer for awhile too back in the late 80's early 90's. I would visit halls that were out of the immediate area, and halls which I was positive I would be a total stranger. I would always leave during the song and never talk to anyone. Towards the end, I started treating my assigned hall the same way. I would arrive very late (20-30 min), sit in the back row, never comment or talk to anyone and leave during the song.
When it gets like that, it's a signal and its time to just leave.

The Prodigal One That Never Went Back...
by Valis inthis is the tale of a young man that had a bright future as a cellist..he was only sixteen and things were looking bright if not for the very one that was supposed to be the head of the household.
we'll call him jack...short for jackass btw.
jack was a violent man, living and conducting himself as an upstanding jw in the eyes of the congregation...he beat his wife, married his 16 year old daughter off to some cretin, mistreated his other daughter, and finally took much aggression out on his sons...well jack did a real good job of beating the hope out of the prodigal one...he gave up playing cello and ran away from home to join the navy during vietnam...the rest of his life was hard and being rather tall, even for a prodigal one, his body got tired after a hard life...congenital lung disease, several bad motorcycle wrecks/suicide attempts imo, he's dying now..on a respirator...to complicate things, his wife of more than 15 years died today of congestive heart failure and complications from open heart surgery....you see, he never went home because there is not one to go back to...his mother died of cancer , jack left his first family and moved on to abuse two others while remaining a jw (not one now as far as i know) and has not been heard from for years.

Would it be better to have a halt to war topics ?
by Simon inunfortunately, it seems that people are unable or unwilling to debate or discuss the war and stay civil.
people are accused of all sorts of extremes such as "advocating child torture and rape" if you are against the war or "being a mass murderer and war criminal" if you support it.. some people seem to want to be able to post anything they want and it be accepted verbatim while other people are denied an opinion that doesn't agree with theirs.. i for one am sick of it and i suspect that other people are too.. this is supposed to be a site for jw related issues.
not exclusively but primarily.

Simon:
You got me thinking about the last days of the Roman Empire. Even though certain emperors paid tribute to various barbarian tribes, the barbarians later invaded anyway. I think american society is heading in a similar direction. North Korea frightens the west with possible nuclear war, and the US responds with promises of aid.
It's turned into blackmail. Soon, rogues will spring up everywhere seeking to blackmail the west in return for money. Eventually, the west will have to refuse and some rogue will act on the threat. Eventually, the US will have to fade away like all the other empries did in the past. It's just a matter of time.

I believe Francois is onto something. It is rather puzzling that we should direct our lives from a series of controversial books written thousands of years ago by ancient men with less knowledge of the universe than we have today. Shouldn't knowledge continue progressing forward, opening frontiers, making discoveries? This can be done without sacrificing belief in a Supreme Creator and with respect to our human limitations compared to the expanse of the universe.
I find the more investigation into the archaeological roots behind popular religion, the more controversy is exposed. Religion, like politics and greed is no longer just a concept, but has become a patter of behavior in humans, like racism, violence, immorality and therefore a useful tool in accomplishing harm to others.

My list is similar.
1. After armageddon, we would all learn hebrew
2. The FDS teaching
3. The light getting brighter thru the FDS
4. The demons were focusing and concentrating all of their earthly efforts on the youth in jehovah's organization because jehovah destroyed the children of the nephilim in the flood
5. Fred Franz was a Scholar (of any sort)
6. All critics of the WTBS are apostates, and apostates are no longer JW's because they were all DF'd for immorality and vengeful
7. 1914, 1919, 1975, etc
8. There are about 8,000 - 9,000 anointed left on the earth
9. 20,000 witnesses died in concentration camps
